Zamek w Suchej Beskidzkiej

    Zamek w Suchej Beskidzkiej, to renesansowa warownia, stanowiąca magnacką rezydencję dla wielu właścicieli, w tym Castiglione-Suskich, Komorowskich, Wielopolskich, Branickich i Tarnowskich. Zyskał przydomek "Małego Wawelu" ze względu na pewne podobieństwo do zamku królewskiego w Krakowie, zwłaszcza jeśli chodzi o dziedziniec. Obecnie pełni funkcję siedziby Muzeum Miejskiego w Suchej Beskidzkiej.

 

    Usytuowany u podnóża góry Jasień, niedaleko ujścia Stryszawki do Skawy, zamek znajduje się kilkaset metrów na północ od centrum miasta. W 1922 roku zamek przeszedł w ręce rodziny Tarnowskich, pozostając w ich posiadaniu do wybuchu II wojny światowej. W okresie obu wojen światowych pełnił funkcję szpitala wojskowego. Po wojnie, opuszczony przez właścicieli, zamek służył różnym celom, m.in. jako siedziba gimnazjum, internat liceum, fabryka mebli i magazyn Gminnej Spółdzielni.

 

    W 1975 roku Państwowe Zbiory Sztuki na Wawelu zdecydowały się na otwarcie filii muzeum wawelskiego na zamku, rozpoczynając długotrwałą renowację obiektu, która trwała do 1991 roku. W 1996 roku zamek został przekazany miastu Sucha Beskidzka. Obecnie na zamku znajduje się Miejski Ośrodek Kultury, hotel i restauracja "Kasper Suski". W dniu 4 kwietnia 2016 roku zespół zamkowo-parkowy stał się własnością miasta Sucha Beskidzka, po wieloletnich staraniach władz miejskich.
